How to get Casecomplete to increment UC ID based on existing use cases?

I created a new UC and even though there are 50 or so other UC, with IDs up to UC-50, the ID assigned to my new use case is UC-1. So now I have 2 use cases with and ID of UC-1. When I create a new use case after this, it increments to UC-2.

A) How get CaseComplete to increment properly?

B) Is there any way to change the ID of my use case manually, without renumbering everything else?

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan,

Duplicates IDs are not a good thing and will cause all sorts of grief so if you're getting them, we'd like to understand the issue better so we can find out what's causing it and get it fixed in short order. Would you be willing to zip up your project folder and send it to support@serlio.com so we can diagnose the data and see if we can determine if there's bug in CaseComplete causing this? Also, let us know any additional details on how to reproduce the issue.

Answers to your questions:

A) CaseComplete should be preventing you from creating elements with duplicate IDs. When creating a new UC, it should default the ID to something that's not in use.

B) Currently, there is no way to manually change individual IDs. Using Renumber IDs is the only way to do that.

If you do send your project files to support@serlio.com, it will open up a private support ticket that only our support team and you will have access to.

Hi again, Dan.

Another thought just popped into my head. Do you have more than one CaseComplete project open when creating the new UCs? If you have more than one project open, and create a new UC in one of the projects, it will make sure that the UC ID is unique only within it's owning project, not all open projects. So, that could be one way to see the behavior you explained above.

If you have only one project open and are seeing duplicate IDs, then sending your project to support@serlio.com so we can study the data a bit may help us better undstand what's causing this.
