Import requirements from excel with a package id with notes, issues

I created an excel spreadsheet to import requirements.  I wanted to add the requirement to a Package.  Each requirment had Notes and Issues.  I was successful in importing the requirements, however the problems are as follows:

(1) the requirement was not inserted under the requested package

(2) the Notes and issues were not loaded.

Is it possible to import requirements directly to a package?

Is it possible to import requirements with notes & issues?

See the  format of the excel file attached

Package - problem did not add the requirement under the pacage

Name - ok

Priority - ok

business impact (custom) - ok

When you import, the imported items are always placed in the top level package. After they're imported, just open the main list view of requirements, select the ones you've imported and drag them to the desired package in the project browser. That will move them into that package.

Is it possible to import "notes" and "issues"?  When the excel file was uploaded the "notes" and "issues" were not successfully saved.

Sorry, CaseComplete doesn’t support importing lists of owned items such as notes or open issues, something that we hope to support someday though.

You can find the list of valid keywords (elements that will be imported) by clicking on the Help button on the Import from Excel form.

I would note that if you have a number of requirements that you do want to import into a package (not the root package), it is quite easy.  All you have to do is create requirements in that package, open the package and just click the "add requirement" icon on the top menu to create however many you want to import.  For example, let's say you have 50 requirements in that package, numbers 1-50.  And you wanted to import 50 more.  You can open the package and add 50 more requirements.... so you will now have 51-100.  These requirements will not be "correct" or have the right names, BUT if you then add an ID field to your requirement import use the same IDs that are in that package (REQ-SAMPLE-50, REQ-SAMPLE-51) it will over write those (make sure you click on the over write option.  Also remember if you set the format in excel with 2 cells, you can drag those 2 cells down down and it will simply copy that pattern, so it will create your numbers through REQ-SAMPLE-100 by dragging the numbers down.

Simple and it works much faster than dragging and dropping 50+ requirements.

That's a great tip.  Thanks.

I was able to get around my other problem with Notes & Issues by creating custom fields.

Thanks Jake for the cool tip.  I need to point out though that it sounds like you are implying that you have to drag/drop each requirement individually to move it.  Actually you can do them all at once: click on the requirements tab and mult-select all the imported requirements (Shift+Click to select a range, or Ctrl+Click to select individual requirements).  Then you can either right click on one of the selected requirements and choose "Move To" and then select the destination package, or you can drag them from the list view and drop on a package in the project browser. A couple other points:  for multiselect to work, you have to be in details mode (set via view menu), and multi-select only works in the list, not the project browser.
