Identify the user who last modified a use case in a Shared Project.

The last modified date is stored with the use case.  It would be really useful to see who last modified the use case also if the project is shared.  Since everyone has a local copy that they then check in, it seems there could be an identifier stored in the user's local copy that would then update the Modified By field (new field) in addition to the Date Modified.  In our daily reports I'm seeing use cases modified on a day when the person it is assigned to isn't even in the office.  So someone else is modifying it, but not getting the credit for the work. (Or the accountability for possibly making incorrect changes.)

Hi Carroll,

Thanks for the feedback.  While we don't have the ability to see who changed an individual use case or requirement (which I agree would be nice), since you are using a shared project, you should have access to this information already, via the version control system.  Please try right clicking on a package in the project browser and selecting View History.  This will bring up a dialog that shows each time the file was checked in, along with who checked it in and the comment, if any, that was included when it was checked in. Does this get you the information you're looking for?

Regards,

Doug

That is very helpful, thanks!  I had hoped to be able to include it on the daily reports.  Is there any way to pull this data from the History into an Excel report?  Thanks again!  At least this can help if an issue ever arises.

If you're using CaseComplete's built-in version control system, or any variant of Subversion, then the answer is yes.  There's already a built-in Word report called Revision History.  You could pretty easily take the content from that report template and put it into a custom Excel report (let me know if you need a few details on how to do that).
