UML 2.0+ support?

I was eager  to find a UseCase/Requirements tool like CaseComplete and definitely was pretty amazed just by going through the tutorial and capturing it's simplicity and powerfulness!

I just don't have the time to go deeper on it and learn all funtionalities. Did I understand the tutorial correctly? It is said there that CaseComplete doesn't support UML 2.0. And also the generated UML representation is not synchronized with the underlying UseCase/Requirements representation from CaseComplete. Are these correct?

Thanks in advance, and nice job!

Thanks for your kind words! That is correct, CaseComplete doesn't support UML 2.0 and it is a one-time export. CaseComplete exports a small subset of UML: packages, use cases, actors, and definitions and their fields (which get exported as classes), so you might have success importing into your UML application.  I guess my best advice is that when you have the time, give it a try and see if it works.  Did you have a specific UML application in mind?

Thanks for the fast reply Doug. I dont have a UML tool in mind, but I do need more complete diagrams. I have the possibility to work with MS Visio but I would need longer to get to know it well. Do you think its possible to work with Visio? I'm stuck with the software. I know Magic Draw and Enterprise Architect, but my company pays Microsoft.

Thanks again,
Biasutti

While we don't support export to, or import from Visio, there are a couple of things you can do to relate CaseComplete items and Visio diagrams together:

  1. You can attach a visio diagram as a related document to almost any item in CaseComplete. When you generate Word reports, you have the option of including the first page of the related visio diagrams in the generated Word document.  Learn more about related documents here: https://casecomplete.zendesk.com/entries/262964-add-a-related-document-or-website
  2. You can copy an image of the Visio diagram and paste it into a CaseComplete diagram. You won't be able to edit the contents of the diagram, but it will show up in generated reports.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks once again Douglas. I'll give it a try this week.
