Importing Data

I am importing a spreadsheet artifact with a ton of other information aside from use case data.   The labels on the tab delimited text file are:  Package, Primary Actor, Name, Description.   The rest of the columns in the spreadsheet (which is saved as tab delimited text) are not relevant to Case Complete and I had believed that CC would ignore them on import.

This is my first attempt at importing data.  I started a test project called, 'Test Import Project' to familiarize myself with the import process.

1)  When I attempt to import the text file, I get the following message:  Index was outside the bounds of the array.

2)  I attempted to simply import the spreadsheet.  I changed the column headings to the fields listed above, which came from the Use Case List embedded Excel report.  When I attempt to import this spreadsheet, I get the following error, 'Row 1, Column 18: empy cells are not allowed in this row.'   But that Column is Column Z in my spreadsheet and it should be empty because I have no data in it.  How can I set the import range?  Is there a way?

As I said, this is my first attempt to import data into CC.

Hi John,

Sorry for the trouble. Seems like there's something within one of the fields of your spreadsheet that CaseComplete is having trouble with and trying to reproduce without your data could take a while. Would you be willing to send us your spreadsheet to help speed up the troubleshooting process? If you're willing, please send it to support@serlio.com

Also, to learn what fields are valid for importing, just click on the Help button on the Import dialog as shown below:

Hi John,

I received your files, thanks! Looks like a couple of column headers in one of your spreadsheets were blank and that was causing CaseComplete to throw the errors. As a rule, CaseComplete requires that all non-empty columns have some header text so it can try and import the data into the correct location of the project.

I've sent you a fixed up spreadsheet that hopefully illustrates this. Let me know if you need any questions or need additonal help with this.
