Setting properties for multiple items

Often you will want to set a value for a property, such as Assigned To or Priority, for multiple items at one time. For example, you may wish to set the Assigned To value for a group of use cases without having to enter the value for each use case separately. This is easily accomplished via the properties window:

  1. Click on the tab that holds the items you wish to modify (Actors, Use Cases, Requirements, or Issues)
  2. Make sure you are in "Details View" mode: select View / Details.  Alternatively, click the appropriate toolbar button.
  3. Select the items you wish to modify.  You can select multiple individual items by pressing and holding Ctrl as you click, or you can select a range of items by pressing Shift as you click.
  4. Set the value of the property you wish to modify in the properties window.  All selected items will be assigned that value.

Notes:

The properties window will only show the value of a property if all selected items share the same value, otherwise, it will be blank. For example, if you select two use cases, one with medium complexity and the other with high complexity, the complexity property will be empty since they don’t share the same value. But that doesn’t prevent you from setting the value, and once you do, the value will show since the two use cases now have the same value.
